Reception and Profession Ceremonies
Introduction

In this new edition, the ceremonies of reception and profession for reasons of clarity are presented three forms:  reception alone, profession alone, and a combined reception and profession ceremony.

It is hoped that the ceremonies will always take place within the context of a Eucharistic liturgy.  If for some reason this cannot be so, then the ceremonies are performed as a Paraliturgy.  That Paraliturgy is given in this manual following the three ceremonies.  In all cases, the ordinary celebrant is a priest.

The ceremony takes place after the homily.  It is good if the homily includes a short explanation of the rite itself and of the meaning of the commitment being made.
